Baiting Instructions 
Front Release Traps 
  1. Lift the door lock with one hand. 
  2. Push and hold front door lockrod against door and lift both together (Fig 1). 
  3. Reach into Trap with free hand and place bait at rear of Trap NOT on bait tray. If you have difficulty reaching back of Trap, place the Trap on its end and drop the bait into it  
 
Rear Release Traps 
 1. Push security lock wire off the handle. 
  2. Lift handle to unlatch the door (Fig 2). 
  3. When closing the slide door make sure the handle latches are positioned under the top wire of the Trap. 
  4. Snap the security lock wire over top of the handle. 
 
Setting Instructions 
  1. Lift the door lock with one hand. 
  2. Push and hold front door lock rod against the door and lift both together (Fig 1). 
  3. With free hand, reach inside the Trap and pull the trigger mechanism forward (Fig3) until the hook engages the wire of the door. (Fig 4). 
  4. Hold the trigger in place until after you release the door. 
  5. The Trap is now set in ready position. 
 
Universal Trap 5300 
   Remove the front sliding door to set flush against a structure, or leave it in place for use over a burrow. 
In the latter case you may need to stake the Trap in position. 
 
Animal Release 
Front Release 
Lift the door lock. Push front door lock rod against door and lift both together. To hold door in open position until animal leaves Trap a stick can be used to prop the door open, or inserted through the side wires and under the door. 
 
Rear Release 
Push security lock wire off the handle and lift the door out of the slide (Fig 2). 
 
Use extreme caution when releasing, transferring or removing a trapped animal. 
Use of heavy leather or padded gloves is mandatory to help protect from being scratched or bitten. 
When transferring an animal to a carrier, make sure the Trap and carrier are secured together to avoid animal escapes.
