The common Housefly (musca domestica) is a widespread common pest in all industries and structures, and is a major factor in the spread of disease, contaminating food and utensils.
It breeds in garbage, manure, animal wastes, and decaying vegetable and animal matter; eggs are deposited on these materials and hatch into maggots.
Other common pest Flies, found indoors, are Drosophilae, also called Fruit Flies, Drain Flies or Sewer Flies, and Cluster Flies, which are more of a nuisance than anything else.
Outdoors the most aggravating of Flies is the Black Fly, one of the most difficult to control because of its breeding habits.
